For Those Starting Out:
If you’re new to heritage projects or are setting up an organisation for the first time, the Toolkit guides you every step of the way:
- Forming your organisation and refining your vision—learn about the different governance structures you could take, find out to create a strong trustee board and discover why community engagement is so important early on.
- Planning and execution made simple—learn how to develop a robust strategic plan, employ staff and build a strong volunteer base.
- Building sustainable momentum—discover social media guidance and top tips on creating a communications strategy to help keep your project in the public eye.
- Helping you to understand the sector - we know it can be daunting trying to understand how the sector works and who you need to talk to so the Toolkit can help you identify those key organisations that you might need to engage with

Who can access Toolkit?
Toolkit is a member only resource.
Network, Individual and Partner class members have access to the full extent of Toolkit. This means they can enjoy all the case studies, webinar recordings, top tips, guidance notes and model document regardless of which stage of Toolkit they sit within.
As our Connect class members are those just taking their first steps in community heritage, they are provided with access to resources within Stage 1. These cover topics such as establishing your board, selecting your governance structure and developing community support for your project.
